Who wants BF Goodridge tyres!?

Post by WhiteRhino » Thu 28 Jun 2012, 09:20

n an effort to hear it from the horses mouth i searched the web and made a few calls to find out what happened to our beloved BF Goodridge tyres. The word around the rumor mill was the the range is discontinued but this is not true.... The truth is that import stopped due to lack of demand. Yes there is a demand but for them the number does no justify the effort...

So a new member joined the forum stating that the import parts so i called them and they can import BF Goodridge tyres.

Their thread...

Just to give you an idea of pricing
225/60/14 R1750
235/60/14 R1650

This is imported to their premises somewhere in JHB

Hi. I too encountered this problem when sourcing BFGoodrich white letter radials, I could have asked the v8 import guys to get me a set, but I was unsure if 275/60 would fit the particular offset my rims have, if the v8 guys imported the 275/60 and they did not fit I would be stuck with the wrong size tyres.

The solution was to get the BFGoodrich agents to import these for me, luckily the Tiger wheel and Tyre I always use is an agent, so I asked if they could import 4 x 255/60/15 and 2x 275/60/15, Incidently they imported 4 of each size for me. The 275/60 did fit on the rear so i ended up taking a mix set. They have reported that the other mixed set was sold within a week, so there must be a need for these tyres.

After my discount, I paid R1382.60 for the 255/60/15 and R1878.60 for the 275/60/15

Just called them and they will also be able to get them. If they dont have in stock in ZA and have to bring some in it will take about 2 months

I used to have 13" white lettering BFG Radial T/As on my Perana years ago and they were superb.

No problem getting 14" or 15" here in the UK but not 13". Made some enquiries here and in the States and they are still being made but only in the BFG Mexico plant.

None of the suppliers here would go to the trouble of importing them and I could not justify a large order to make it worth their while. If anybody over there needs 13" either in a 205/60 or 225/60 maybe we could get a large enough order together to make it viable for one of the suplliers mentioned over there. We could get them all shipped to SA and I can always get my set back here.

cheers

From what i found out 13 is not available here and also found the 225 or less is scarce. Best bet is to make a few calls and see what they say...

HI Q at N1 City imported them for me for cheaper than what I could have gotten hercules for locally. I think I paid under R5000 for 4 235/60/15's. This was under 2 years ago!
