Perana Radiater Dimensions

Guys,
In between the XW resto we are on and off working on the Capri V8 conversion. Got some help from Stealth as to the mounting brackets. I do have a question on the original radiater setup for the Perana.
I have an original Perana radiater (all dimensions exact per Silverton Radiaters) that I got from a Granada Perana. The only difference between the Capri and Grenada Perana radiaters is the mounting brackets. I can live with that, easily altered, but when test fitting it, it appears to stand very high above the radiater cradle panel.
I need some pictures of the original radiater in a Perana as well as some dimensions. How high does it stand above the radiater cradle panel. For me it look too high but i'm sure with the hump bonnet it will clear. Perhaps ZA Perana can post a pic or two.
Once this is sorted I can concentrate on the cross member/suspension, engine mounting setup. Here I need some parts if anyone can help. I need Ford Fairlane engine mountings and the brackets that bolts onto the cross member. The Fairmont GT brackets/mountings are the same. Pls guys if you can help I will be greatfull.
In think its time for me to post some pics of my Capri here on the forum, but oh boy, the interior looks like a funeral parlour, red velvet everywhere you look, and a dash heavily padded. Thats another thing i want to sort out. Change the whole interior back to original in black

The radiator does sit quite high up. I think I have seen this red valvet interior before.....
This is the best picture I have at the moment. What you do need though is the deflector plate on top of the radiator...I dont have it and its a nightmare sitting in traffic, the car gets hot very quickly....

Thanks ZA, I wondered what happened to you. Glad to have you back here on the forum.

Looking at the pic you posted I notice straight away a difference. The top tank is different and look like the radiater in Magda's Perana. The core dimension is exactly the same. Let me see if i can find a pic of the radiater I have then you can see the differences.

Would you be able to measure the top tank height for me. I think the bottom tanks will be the same. Can you post a pic or two on the config of the bottom radiater pipeand how it fits in relation to the front cross member.

Also measured the length of the raditator from left to right and unfortunately the only tape measure I had was in inches...25 inche accross from left to right. Tried to measre from top to bottom but its not extremely easy when the engine is hot....

It would appear that the front bottom cross member is cut out and boxed. It also looks as if the radiater is not rightdown to the valance panel.
i can see that the Capri rad toptank is different to the Grenada rad tank. The Grenada tank is also much higher. I will have to get a tank made up similar to that of the Perana.
A new radiater is R3600 which I think is a bit too much, and gettin a new tank made up and side brackets altered will be much cheaper. The core is correct dimensions and is a 3core.
Now once again, can you measure the total height of the radiater including top and bottom tanks.
Do you run a electric fan on your Capri?

I dont belief this.....inches, INCHES!!. What do you know about inches? Did you get hold of grand dad's measuring tape?

ZA Perana, you're full of surprises! See if you can get a metric tape measure, and please dont go for a spin to get bread and milk and then decide to measure the radiater height. Do it before you go on the fun run.

Haha, thought my measuring technique might amuse you...will get another tape measure, that was the one that was easiest to find.....R3600 is very expensive, I agree modify what you have, it seems in great condition.

Dont run an electric fan just the normal "fingure cutter" but need to make a plan with the deflector plate because the design of the fan is such that hot air is sucked through the radiator with the the cowling/deflector plate....am considering an electric fan but again everything is orginal and I dont use the car as a day to day, more of a weekend fun car and try to avoid sitting in traffic as much as possible.

Vanz, You've got it wrong, it is 635mm that I knew, I grew up with inches and then it was the biggest confusion having to stop thinking in miles, pints, gallons and use the metric system. But ZA, he was born probably 20odd years after the imperial system changed to metric. Why would a INCH measuring tape lying around for everyday use. Strange, very strange!

ZA, I spoke to AJ, and he recommend a bigger 4 core radiater. I agree with him as these 302 motors do tend to run on the hot side. (but I have too also consider costs) I dont want hassles like that down the road and think a electric fan with thermoswitch will help. Fortunately my Capri is not a original BG Perana, rather a DH Special Edition V8, meaning I can build it a bit better than the BG Perana.

Had a good look at some pics of the front cross member alteration on the Perana as well as plates/panels next to the radiater. Not very neat I must say. I would have thought for that sort of work to be marketed still with a Ford warranty workmanship as well as design could have been a bit more professional. But so far I have only seen pics of two Peranas. Remember pics never tell the real thing, so it might even be worse than what I think it is.
