Rambler brake pipe size

Post by docjohn » Thu 05 Sep 2019, 16:40

I've been told that the master cylinder from a 1969 Rambler fits the 1969 Valiant Barracude which I have here in the UK. Can somebody please confirm for me that the Rambler uses the same size brake pipe (3/16" dia) as the Barracuda and not 1/4"?

Many thanks for answering what might seem a trivial question!!!!

Couple variables doc....both rhd vehicles, front disc brakes on both, 4 bolt or 2 bolt mount on firewall? Our SA Valiants has the lines exit on the fender side, as to not interfere with the valve cover. '69 Barracuda should be front discs and 2 bolt mount on firewall.

There is a difference in primary and secondary outlet size on the Valiants....

Yes, 69 cuda, two bolt attachment onto bulkhead, brake pipes exiting towards fender. Both ports 1/2" X 20. I ask because I don't want to take the existing leaking M/C off the cuda only to discover that the new Rambler M/C isn't suitable!

NB Rambler M/Cs are easy to get in the UK via American importers, Valiant M/Cs are impossible!

I know......

We us Mc's from another vehicle replacing the Valiant ones. At a glance it seems as if this will work yes: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.ph ... 05&jsn=357 1" Bore is sufficient, mounting hole pcd, no idea.

Yes, that's exactly like the one I intend to use, except that mine is made by Centrix, not Cardone. It also fits, apparently, the American 68-74 javelin, AMX, Ambassador, etc. So the two port seats are OK for 3/16" pipe then?

Most, if not all, will take a double flare line if that is your concern?
