This is so close to home for me, as I get the exact same situation all the time in my real job.. And is exactly what our classic car market is ailing with..
Waterhond, asume you are of those that were around in the days these kind of cars were "affordable" possibly even owned something now scarce & "unaffordable". Well sorry for you and me friend, don't think these rules that apply have anything to do with us unless you active in the car-flipping side of classic's. Again, relative to the situation today not just here in ZA, when economics becomes tangled with anything the rules change as does "ethics" have less say on the matter.

All good and relative to circumstance. Before the classic car hype kicked in yes 150K may even be plenty. Today the classic car scene is a different world. As with the Fairmont GT's and Monaro's these cars have apeal beyond here. This is one of the few surviving Chev SS's. Real is real, that in itself has value. This is an original Chev SS as unique to ZA as various other local specials. Theres probaly less surviving original Chev SS's here than XR8's, Perana's, Interceptor's etc. Not my rules, not a classic-car punter, just an ordinary enthiusiast. Just an observation acording to what one see's going down these day. Other thing is the belonged to a person since deceased, decisions to be made in the hands of a deceased's spouse that is probably unaware that spending maybe 5, 10, 15, 20, .......K on this car could virtually double the suggested 150K. This can't be an easy call for a lady to sort - suggestion could be that somebody close offer to assist/advise and help the person get a good price for it considering having already lost a husband. Plenty other cars around to flip.....AMC Forum could do a good dead for a person clearly in an awkward situation.
Guess I should offer to assist then....seeing you are not far from me Alida Strydom? Please feel free to inbox me your contact details ma'm...

Let me guess, you're basing your opinion on having seen the car or you're talking out your ass.

Or maybe you one of those that bases their prices on Australian Gumtree adverts and you think a Fairmont GT is worth R1m?

Nobody has seen the car in person so no need for anyone to say anything until someone has a better idea of the condition , it could be fucked up rotten or it could be a gem ....
Correct, hence a gesture of goodwill in honour of a deceased enthiusiast-brother somebody close by offer to have a look and assist.
i've already called Alida last week.

Question: Would this SS have a 350 or 308.
Some SS models had the 350.
5 l = 308

Green SS advertised, altered bodywork, re-sprayed non-standard colour = R 275 000. 150K for the very original looking red one we all know maybe 5 years ago prices.

Yeah sure in truly SA manner just go and put unrealistic values in the seller's head.

Well done *slow clap*
Lets not beat around the bush here, there is great speculative potential in this car. I for one would like the seller to realise a true value of the car which in my view is between R150k and R300k depending on original paint work, history, matching numbers.

I would hate this car to be purchased low and then flogged high or worse exported. Many years ago I mentioned to site admin I wont ever again go on about this matter of exporting so I wont go further than that.

What is apparent is the paint work and striping appear original. I am going to approach a large collector and see if he would be interested in this car with the view of paying market value and holding the car and actually displaying it at shows etc.

Ford Capri Perana V8
Chevy Lumina Supercharged
