I think the automatic gearbox's is the most common problem. André on the forum got 2. I think parts from Australia is no problem but local it is expensive, hard to find. Ford City in Clairwood, Durban got, but crazy prices.
Very under priced cars.

Very good cars, I have had my two (EF and AU) both XR 6's for several years.

AU is high on km's, about 350k

Problems I have experienced on AU are:
Water resevoir bottle cracked
Powersteering rack and resevoir leaked
Oil leak at timing chain tentioner
Oil leak on sump gasket, but this cured itself
Door actuators forever breaking the little gears

Thats the major stuff. Other than that they are bullet proof cars, AU is very solid on the road.
Great cars for very little money.

Spares are very much available in Australia but nonexistend here.

Give me a call on zero eight two 459 778three if you need more advice.
Greetings
André

I looked at an AU XR6 for a while by the lack of spares put me completely off the idea of buying one. In addition not that many were sold here which makes second hand stuff also hard to find.
Alfa GTV 3.0
Ford Capri Perana V8
Chevy Lumina Supercharged
