Flanges and Steam pipe for Up pipe R500

3'' SS piping an V band flanges and muffler for Exaust system R3000
TMSS motorsport

TI performance Chip , plus tuner and Wideband controller R7000 landed

Bosch 440cc injectors R3000 Local

Waistegate R2000
http://www.mrturbo.co.za/index.php?page ... t&Itemid=1

Clutch kit R3500 Formula Friction

Intercooler and boostpipes R3000

Dump valve R900

So Im about R30k in...
Just remember that I did all the fabrication myself , so if you had to outsource, you could have a much larger bill

Just a sidenote.

Im not happy with the management , so will be looking at a stand alone system.
Might have been cheaper from the start :?
Also you can get away with a Smaller turbo

Yip, doing all the mods certainly adds up.
One serious car you have there.

My Brother in law sent his Toyota D/C KZTE to have a Lexus V8 fitted. Cost .... close to R70k , motor and auto box supplied by the company doing the conversion. When the car came back I went to drive it, was OK but too loud, I had a good look at what was done. it was leaking oil badly from the sump gasket, wiring all hanging loose, alternator not correctly wire up so not charging, none of the grommets fitted back on the firewall, the Spitronics management wiring loom coming through the firewall was rubbing through on bare metal due to no rubber grommet .. mot what I would call a professional job.

So rather do everything yourself if you can , these so called companies out there that claim to do professional work and conversions just rip you off in my opinion and expect a person to just pay

Intresting build Hano and well executed.

I would love to do this to my XR6 sedan.

Why is the T5, questionable? Thought it is is quite a strong box.

I'm looking forward to that write-up.
Will you be building a similar base SOHC engine, or the higher output XR6 engine, or a VCT engine?

Come on Hano, you've been in quick cars, what does your butt dyno say, 400hp, 500Nm torque?
hanov0 wrote:Im not happy with the management , so will be looking at a stand alone system.
Would you go Spitronics?

Interesting comment on the turbo. a GT35 has a T3 sized turbine, correct, but on ball bearings? I wouldn't have thought you should go smaller than that on a 4.0L engine?
Most Aussies recommend at least a 0.8 A/R compressor housing for the Falcons, unlike the 0.63 in the link provided? Which would then be a GT35/40 hybrid, I think, and they are on boost from 2500rpm.

Well accoding to the Aussie forums the T5 will break eventually
Normally 3rd gear that strip.
Also Im not sure to what torque these boxes are rated for, as 500 nm is rather easy with a turbo strapped to it.

Hence the reason I went with a rater large turbo so the torque doesn't spike suddenly, and also at higher revs

I have been looking for a VCT motor yes.
But havent found one yet.
Also , there are alot of diffences between the years, with alot of hybrid setups , like 95 blocks wit Au heads and so forth.
So an XR6 motor will not be better in turbo form due to high compression , which you will have to lower.

Ok the turbo in the link is a .63 housing, but If you ask they have a much larger one,
0.8 and a 1,01 like I have on here.

According to my butt dyno , she easily makes 200 Rwk on 0.5 bar.
And at 0.8 it will destroy my 260 wkw volvo 8O

Spitronics :?: Never used it.
I know the Gotechs and Mrturbo Ecu's, so I will rather stick to them.
Cheers

Intresting info Hano.

So the XR6 is not a turboable motor without mods as you more in the know? 8O

Spinning the wheels at 120 km/h on a 200kw motor? :? Thats about 15kw more than a standard motor?

I really need to talk to you Hano, this seems a fun conversion though...

I think Hano meant 200 Rear wheel kW, that would be around 230 flywheel kW(using a 15% power loss formulation), and remember 0.5bar is very low pressure, as I have it factory standard boost levels are usually between 0.8 and 1bar.
The old CAR magazines says the GLI Ranchero had 157kW from new, although I suspect the utes actually made a few less horses than the sedans, 148kW or so, as that is what the Australian specs reflect.
No way you are going to achieve that type of increase from standard working the N/A engine, with cams and/or porting, etc. for the same cash outlay.
Either way, it doesn't mean a lot, with a turbo engine of this type, its virtually always the torque increase which is really impressive.
Hano will know better, but the XR6 is turboable, just can not be boosted as much stock, and ultimately not make as much power. Lots have turbo'ed the XR6, including our own Ben Morgenrood.
