Suspension Parts for my '75 Ford F-250 2wd

Post by coyote » Thu 10 Mar 2016, 06:51

:D They say two is better than one-but two project trucks?..
Anyhow, I have a f250 in need of tie rods, balljoints , draglinks, anything that will make it go in a straight line!..
This one will be the workhorse as it is used on my smallholding, but still want it looking the part.
Power steering for it would be a bonus-wonder if the Crown Vic front suspension won't do the job?.
It has a 351C installed, also needs a real expert to make it nice.
The 9" diff-well I think it needs a new crown wheel and pinion-sings a bad tune.
I am away a lot, so we depend on the experts for help -haha.
Even Better, If someone would do it whilst I am away as a project. (No chancers of course..)

Any suggestions about who to speak to?-I know Wrennpower used to do some parts for the F-250.

Cheers,
Coyote (a.k.a. William)

Hi Hugh,
I need to replace all the joints on the 1975 Ford F-250 2wd Front suspension.
Ball joints, draglink etc.
Also need front disks, disk pads, diff. drive end oil seal.
Then I need a good V8 engine builder to tidy up the engine, and install adjustable roller rockers etc. I sent one guy with all the V8 engines that he builds a message on this forum, but have not heard from him.
I want to convert to power steering as well.
A bonus would be for a Mechanic to take the vehicle and fix it 100% as I am currently out of country a lot working away.

Who do I speak to?.
Cheers,
COYOTE

It would help fellow members if you updated your profile with your location.

From other posts, I believe you are in Durban area.
Fellow member Rassie is a Ford man near you, and could probably help with parts and/or work.
Parts wise I only know of Rocket 88 in the area.

Forget about Gas Monkey style Crown Vic suspension, you won't find it here, unless you import it.

Depending on your plans for the truck, it might not be necessary to change the complete front suspension setup, but if that is what you want, then talk to Hugh.

I think fellow member, Burnthosetyres, know the Durban area workshops better than anyone else, so PM him for recommendations.

Thanks Indiana Jones-I am in Harrismith on a smallholding. So basically equidistant from JHB and Durbs.
At the moment I am simply looking for Balljoints , tierod ends etc.
Then someone close by that can sort the 351C out properly. It has been rebuilt, but by a back yard chancer.
The rocker pedestals have not been shimmed properly, timing is out etc. I need someone that knows these V8's. I don't have time , as I type this I am in North Africa.
There is other work on the truck too, would prefer if someone collects it on a rollback, does the work and I can collect when all sorted.

You'd be surprised , I found a CROWN VIC. suspension in JHB-not sure how the change it to RHD. I had mail from this guy 3 months ago.
The American Police no longer use the Crown Vic. so I guess many more suspensions will become available. A crown Vic. Diff and front suspension would be a bonus!.

I am also looking for a tail gate, and tail light lenses for the F-250.

Cheers,
Coyote

WHat do the suspensions cost there? Here, you can buy the front suspension for $500 or the complete running car for $600. I wonder what it would cost to import to SA?
