I know there have been a few V8 Beetles in SA, CAR Magazine tested one built by Peter Michaels for a Hot Rod & Speed Exhibition in Cape Town in it's January 1969 issue, it was powered by a Chrysler 383 V8 and 2-spd auto.

But this one in the ad could have some interesting history, it seems a lot like one built and raced by Robbie Rushforth of Rushforth Service Station (Rhodesia) around 1972 - 1974.

Dont think it was built to be pretty guys.Only effective.Thanks for the great period pics indy. That does look like the same car.Very interesting.
