Hi MS,

Is the power rack an imported product ? Or did you use something else, and adapted it to the Heidt suspension ?

Pieter.

Hi Pieter, no the power rack was imported as a RHD unit with the Heidts suspension.

Awesome build.

If you don't mind me asking. Any tips on importing a classic from the US? Who did you use? and any idea how much you paid for duty?

Any assistance with the above would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks Tagg!

I'm not an expert on importing from the States and had a fair bit of luck on my side. Biggest problem is finding someone to check out whatever you find in the States. I have a Brother-in-Law over there who was able to check her out so that we didn't buy a dud. I got a lot of help from the guys at Diamondback Racing in Durban to bring her over - we shared a large container and I cribbed a lot from their experience!

As far as duties are concerned, you can pretty much double what you are paying for the car to have her landed here - but that is just my very broad perception. If you contact the guys who do this on a more regular basis they should be able to give you a little more accurate estimate.

Important issue to remember is that you will need to do a Right Hand Drive conversion to get her registered over here unless it is a specific classic that might be exempt from this requirement.

Hope it helps!
