New Project - Sierra XR8

Post by Pumpkin » Wed 22 Jul 2015, 23:10

Ok, so my brother and I actually had this for a few months now but only recently started working on it.

All numbers matching (Engine, VIN Plate, Slam panel) so its a proper XR8. Did some minor mechanical stuff to get it 100% (Welsh plugs changed, Alu Radiator refurbed and full on liquid change)

We want to get it 100% OEM to do this the following needs to be done:

Car was resprayed by previous owner, which wasn't done well problems included:-
Incorrect shade of white (looks like 2K white was used - Currently being redone in the correct shade of Diamond White)
Overspray on wiring and door rubbers, Striping was masked over instead of being removed and replaced, the signature blue vinyl on the bumpers and doors was sprayed black

Engine wise the Dual Snorkel is M.I.A (Replacement Found - Thanks EBay) ;)

So the main challenge now is that we need to find the correct shade of blue to use on the bumper and doors. Can any of guys help with that? :(

A few plus points is that the interior has been well taken care of , bar a few incorrect screws, original rims and body is straight and relatively rust free.

So if anybody has an idea of the correct shade of blue please let me know, can only go so far with pics on the net :|

Thanks, it was neat, it just wasn't neat enough.

Neatening up a sloppy paint job will take it to the next level.

Here are some interior shot, excuse the quality

Really great to hear of an XR8 being restored properly. The interior is very good for 30 years old! Actually the car itself looks to be in very good condition.

Please post some pictures after the spray job.
