Pricing and market positioning will be very interesting for sure. I dont see the V8 as a direct competitor to M4, RS5, C63, XE/K-R ISF which I would see as more premium offerings. In fact, I dont think the V8 will have many competitors at all if priced properly, besides maybe the Lumina as a 4 door alternative. If they can come in at R700 to R800K, I think that would be a killer.

I am more interested though in the turbo 4. At altitude, this may in fact be the better deal from a bang for buck perspective. Forced induction is the way to go for performance cars at altitude. Stage 1 chip, exhaust, induction (which I am sure wont take guys like Rob Green long to develop) and you could be putting over 200kw on the wheels with reasonable fuel consumption in a great looking, lighter, better handling car. Here though, there are ofcourse far more competitors. Again whether or not to compete against 435i, S5 or not will be interesting. These cars are up at the R800k mark. Then there are all the performance turbo hatches, but the new Focus ST/RS, with same motor by the way, will be Fords competitor in this space. These are around the R500 to R600k mark already.

My fear is that they position the V8 up at a R1mil, and the turbo at R600/700K...

At R850, I would put my name down for a Alfa 4C rather. As for the 4 cylinder motor, this is apparently the same motor as used in the Focus ST and there have been a few reports of less than stellar reliability. Time will tell how this shapes up in SA.

I am just wondering of Ford is going to have the same problem of giving Mustang buyers a premium level of service. Ironically enough in 1965 Ford did actually sell the Mustang in SA....the time of the launch in 2015 doesn't seem to be a coincidence...

With a few month before the Mustang goes on sale , It seems FORD S.A. is expanding their range.

The Ford Fusion is also going to be released on the market.

And a friend hear from a Ford dealership , the Ford F150 Raptor is also on the cards for S.A. release. No further detail.

Any idea on the Fusion price range? I am very tempted to upgrade my 99 Falcon to one of these.

Why wouldn't the Fusion, again be called a Mondeo in the SA market?

Good question, but then I like Fusion more than Mondeo for some reason.

Its taking the American name as Fusion, spoke to a friend from Ford on Sunday at Piston Ring, he was there with the new Ford Tourneo Connect, similar size to the VW Caddy people carrier but obviously a lot nicer :D also to be released. He said they had just drove a whole lot of the Fusions down to Cape Town so they seem to be in SA already .its going to be the Flagship of the Ford range
