Ters, it is the name of the platform or chassis the car was built on. It was used in a lot of Ford and Mercury vehicles of the time. I am not sure but I think the 4th generation (1994 to 2004) mustang was also designed around the fox platform. If you want to get really technical the Fox mustang started in 1979 with the foxy four eyes up until 2004 making it the longest running mustang platform. But the 3rd generation (official foxies) is 1979 to 1993.

edit: Maybe Will got more info. You can google it of course but thats cheating.

I had my 2 x Fox's. Mustangs :D
Sold both @R.20k with papers and licence up to date. :D

I 'cheated' and looked up the Fox platform: our Fairmont (1978-83) was one, the 1980-88 T bird and 1982-92 Lincoln Mark VII was another variant. :)
