Holden Monaro GTS spotted for sale...

Post by Mudder » Tue 20 Aug 2013, 12:57

Spotted at the 2013 POMC Cars in the Park, Zwartkops Raceway. The price in my very personal opinion is a tad optimistic...

Is the owner a subscriber here ?

A bud of mine purchased a 1992 Corolla Twincam 16 exec a few weeks ago with 38000 kms on the clock. Full books, genuine car. He paid R80k & sold it at R125k! He bought at double the market value, four times the book value & sold at just north of triple the market value(6 times book). What if this Monaro has 38000 kms?

Very nice car but if he's targeting the export market, you could buy a pretty good original Aussie tagged HT Monaro with 308 for the price it would cost to get that landed in Australia. I'm not criticising the owner or doubting his belief in the value of his car - it's worth exactly what someone will pay and what he will accept.

But I reckon that's about twice the current market value for export Monaros in that condition still in RSA. There is easily another $10,000AUS in shipping, customs, GST, engineering etc.

The Oz market exists for export Monaros because they are basically the same car for half the price (same at the Fairmont GT) - but IMO they will never command the same money as a car in the same condition with the Oz tags. That said, it is one way to stop Aussies from buying up RSA cars! Good luck to him, hope he finds a buyer!

Cheers

Paul D.
