I took one of these up to Namibia towing a trailer with a car on it. I had to be reminded constantly about having a trailer behind us as we would easily exceed the speed limit big time!
I was so impressed that I actually looked at buying one but thought it was a bit biggish for my liking.
This is where my idea of sticking the motor in my Sapphire came from.
Will get one in future.
Great car!

You are probably right, André. But if I was to keep the Falcon and Fairmont, I'd actually have to drive them. At this stage they are my trophies sitting in the garage while my other cars are standing outside and in other peoples' garages. It's a bit crazy.
I guess I could keep them, but the idea of putting miles on them as daily drivers, allowing the kids with their grubby little hands in the car, or giving the wife one to park in the sun next to that arsehOle to open his door against my baby just doesn't feel right. I'd rather let someone else enjoy them. Maybe I'll buy myself a little red sports car again at retirement.
Mad Sapphire, the idea of fitting one of these engines in a Sapphire sounds compelling. Was it worth the effort?
Saw an article in a tuners' magazine a few years ago about a chap that fitted the Falcon engine into a mk2 Escort and even turbo charged it . That must be something else!

I actually met the guy with the escort as I was quite involved with that magazine at the time.
That little car was crazy.
Its quite a feat to do the conversion keeping in mind I couldnt ask around for advice as no one has doneit before.
Was/is it worth it? Hell yes!!!
Cheers

Drive them, they are cars and cars are more enjoyable when you drive them.Interceptor wrote:You are probably right, André. Not always possible to drive all of your vehicles regularly when they become too
plentifull. The bigger the vehicle the more difficult. But I agree, cars are there
to be driven and to drive them is the only way to enjoy the car.Although I
enjoy my cars even by sitting in the garage and staring at them.....
I drive my Beetle to work at least two or three days a month.
