Chevy Can-Am.

Post by FlyKR » Tue 03 May 2016, 21:59

Howzit guys, I'm new on this group and have recently acquired re-bodied car xxxxxx which has been in storage for the last 35 years. The car has no papers or VIN tags and I am currently trying to re-register the car so as far as worst case scenario's go I think I have the worstest case scenario...
I have a few thing to fix before I can get it through the roadworthy so I'll post some pics here on the progress. I personally think this is still the original car without its floorpan as this has been completely removed from behind the firewall up to the rear seats. Without revealing all the Can-Am secrets let me know what you think of the car.

This is a shot of the engine, confirmed to be an original 302DZ Can-Am engine mated to a munchie 4 speed (M21) diff is an BW2.92 LSD with drum brakes.

I emailed Can-Am KZN on this forum and sent him a photo of the engine number. He confirmed its a real Can-Am engine number.
It has all the Can-Am bits and pieces except a few things like the steering wheel, radiator and the carb also not confirmed. I believe it was originally registered in KZN but after that no more records

The engine block has an original GM-stamped Can-Am sequence number. He will only, however, know whether it has its original forged 302 internals when he opens the engine..

That's is quite some find!

I have a question though, why would the entire floor pan be removed? It seems like a very odd thing to happen. Can you posts some interior pictures please?

No papers, no floor pan and no vin tags....if I were you I would be asking some very serious questions of the prior owner.
