1964 CHEV C10 FLEETSIDE V8

Post by johan wepener » Tue 27 Oct 2015, 14:19

I have managed to get the resouration of my Chev to a point where not much has still to be

attended to.

I bought the Chev a decade ago and used it for a few years before the restouration started.

The V8 is a 283 and it is not a conversion, it left the factory in PE with this very same engine

making this one of a handfull of C10's fitted with a V8 in the factory ,instead of the 4.1 inline six. I

have confirmation from the first owner re this and also the" VIN" tag confirms.

I still have to further attend to the interior.

The 283 V8 has received new rings, bearings, waterpump and other small things and it runs super

smooth.

Everything on the Chev has been kept original except for a dual exhaust system. But pipes

however are not big diamater ones and therefor the bakkie is rather silent, only a little

glug glug audible when the revs go up.

Ters will post the pics and as always very helpfull with that, something I have not mastered till yet. Thanks Ters :D

Brings back memories! The C10 truck's line up was between the Frigidaire plant and the Chrome bath section!
So chances are that I was walking there!! Real hand built those days! :D

Thanks to all for the positive feedback.

Bearhawke be sure that this C10 is and will be treated like a baby. But every now and then

the old lady will do some travelling on gravel dust roads in the karoo.Nice and slowly. :D
