You have to remove the sump to get the front and back covers of to fit the seals, they fit from inside, but cheap, except for the gaskets you will need.

Get the oil sender unit sorted! Or fit a gauge!

Waterpipe on intake goes to the heater inside, if you do not get cold easy, block it of. Just take care those fittings get brittle and can break of easily in the manifold.

Breather pipe can go to the fitting on the tapped cover as fitted, not ideal but would work. Should actually go on a T on intake as stated.

You should be able to fix it! Good luck!

Already done! Same with sump gaskets and seals... All replaced yesterday. 'Box will be sorted by the shop, but will check that they did replace any seals etc...

Can't find any other place for that breather, safe from the tappet cover spot... Dad said put it there, and so we did. As said, probably not ideal, but it's better than all the loose/open pipes all over the place...

I don't get cold easy, so the heater pipes will be left uncoupled... That oil sender part is proving a little confusing, not sure what to do there. Dad suggested closing it off for now, try to fix it later...?

First time pulling an engine, one helluva learning curve  No amount of 'reading' can replace the practical experience. Loving every second of this!

If you just hook it to the rocker box you are closing the air path with nowhere for crankcase pressure to go. So any pressure from thermal expansion or ring blow by (hopefully minimal) will build up pressure which will force oil out of the tiniest of leaks. So either PCV both it to the manifold, or leave both open.

The pipe on the manifold is for heating the carb, not humans. Stops carb icing in very cold climates.

just buy an oil pressure switch and screw it in. if you look around these is probably a wire hanging about that goes to the oil light on the dashboard. If you see a white wire with a brown trace that is it.
Loving every second of this!

What does an oil pressure switch cost? It may have to wait till next month... As for the wire, colour codes meant nothing to the previous owner... So chances are that wire (if it's even there) isn't the colour it used to be

Data overload... I'll recheck everything before I continue tonight.

Oil presure switch should not be more than R50-60 bucks. Important to help see if you have oilpresure, do not take shortcuts here. Gauge will be more accurate, slightly more expensive and not original.

Well, either way, it'll have to wait till month-end... Not driving anywhere this month, so I'll put the engine back in the meantime, and just add on the switch/gauge once I get it...

So we've been rather busy these last few months... Feel free to check out these photos:

Skortie's just about ready to roll again! Took a little longer than anticipated (but that's normal in this place, right?) but with new engine mounts, seals, gaskets, oil, thrust bearing, clutch plate, etc. and a decent bit of cleaning around the engine bay area, I think Skortie's going to feel like a million bucks!
