Unfortunatly there's a lot of truth in that and that's probably the main reason there are so few good ones left.Remeber what BG said: "we built them to go, not to stop"

Re: V8 ford capri project
In reality Peranas stopped just as well, or just as badly, as a standard 3000. Problem is standard Mk1 Capri brakes are good for only one hard stop then they will fade into oblivion.

had my share of bad brakes, nothing beets the feeling of pushing that brake pedal at a red traffic light and there is nothing..zahistorics wrote:In reality Peranas stopped just as well, or just as badly, as a standard 3000. Latest upgrade to BG 128. Now it handles and stops.

Clearly you are not from ZA if you attempted to stop at Red?IbanezRG wrote:had my share of bad brakes, nothing beets the feeling of pushing that brake pedal at a red traffic light and there is nothing..zahistorics wrote:In reality Peranas stopped just as well, or just as badly, as a standard 3000. Re: V8 ford capri project
I have the front 4 pots and rear 2 pot calipers and discs from a Cosworth Sierra Sapphire that I will be upgrading to.
I got them in exchange for giving a guy space in my workshop to re-shell his car and he was putting all new suspension and brakes on it.
Bargain.
I also have the front struts and single leaf springs from a MK3 2.8i Capri that I will be using until I have saved for some coil-overs for front and back like Chris' A2 replica.

Just some observation,IbanezRG wrote:still busy with bodywork.. car is stripped, did a lot of cutting, welding and grinding. will start with filler this week. i'll upload some photos of the progress soon.
Take a look at the difference between the Perana and Your 2000Gt with regard to the strengthening of the front chassis and body. My mate Piet is also busy fitting a V8 to a Capri. Good luck with the project. Go follow Peranaman's postings.
