My Cortina Restoration has begun!

Got the engine mountings on and looking good so far!



Slow progress on the body but will turn my focus to it now!

So with the December leave I had i started getting the cars body reday for paint and with some help from friends and family we arranged a day for some sanding to be done.



My 5 yr old helped as well!!



A few days later i managed to get the back and roof to the metal ready for some Etch Primer

Will be getting the final spots of metal etched primed and then get the first primer on two start the prep work for the colour coats.

Now to get all the small dents and dings out and get it painted!!

Looking good there Big6...really a nice car and I love the curves on the Big6

My dad has a 3000GT which has recently been resprayed, still busy with interior and will hopefully get some nice engine dress up bits.

.... the carbs were sitting at an angle behind each other.....

Angle manifold was very likely a Basil Green Sapphire Perana manifold. BG told me the angling was to get the runners all the same length.

My opinion: get rid of the "aero kit thing"around the back. It will have the car look so much better. Just my though though....

I can see the excitement in your posts, also from the forum when the guys respond. Keep up the good work and the photo's. We all love it when a build starts coming together. . I would just like to give a tip here, when you do the final spray-job and espesially if it's going to be metalic, try very hard to spray at the same angles. I'll explain... I stripped and resprayed my daughter's Uno in metallic blue a while ago. The car frame, much like your's in the last pics, was painted seperately and the doors and bonnet were off the car on drums. Although I painted everything at the same time, with the same paint, it did not match properly after re-assembly. The metallic particels in the paint have to set and dry at the same angle when you spray the door and mudguard, for example.
