Ferrari Restoration

Post by ZA Perana » Sun 06 May 2018, 18:40

I have always wanted to share this with the forum but could never find the pictures! Found them on a backup drive. This is a reasonably well known car that has spent all its life bar one year in SA and was owned for a long time by a great of SA Motorsport.

A friend of mine bought the car in 2013 after years of wanting one and we drove the car around a bit but he wasn't happy and so begun a full restoration.

The car had spent most of its life being red and we assume that was its factory colour, right at the beginning I made contact with a renowned Ferrari historian who confirmed that the car was in fact originally metallic blue. My other passion is Ferrari so I was tasked with doing research and sourcing parts to an extent, the restoration itself was carried out by a foremost Ferrari expert in SA.

I'll try keep up dating this thread periodically.

That’s a pretty decent project and must be worth a decent packet.

Though everyone told
Me you could never go wrong with a Ferrari and I managed to loose over R100k in a year in one.

It now also seems the inflated bubble on clsssic 911’s has come to an abrupt halt!

I think there is a market correction of sorts happening at the moment. The is realisable value versus how quickly one can realise that value.

This Daytona was essentially bought pre the huge rise in values.
