The old oil just smelt like old oil. No burnt smell.

I had my alternator checked today: 14.5v.

I repaired some of the wiring going to the alternator plug.

So I am about to refit and see if it works correctly.

BTW, any ideas on how to disconnect the central locking?

Ok, it seems my motor and box are very tired. I am dreaming of a 1uzfe conversion with the lexus box and OEM wiring.

1 friend of mine agrees with me.

My other friend says i must use a Ford V8.
I have an adapter match a Cleveland to the Ranchero gearbox.

Now i am leaning towards the lexus due to the standard power levels and the relative cheapness of it.

It seems to me that the american v8's are expensive to buy and rebuild. Also the power levels are lower than the 1 uzfe.

Any advice?

I'm busy with a Lexus conversion, done well, it is not cheap.

If I were in your shoes, I'd rebuilt the Falcon six, and trans.
If you want more power, turbocharge it.

Well, i was also thinking about that, but i understand that a std rebuild would cost about R15,000 for parts alone.

So i figure i could rather spend that an a lexus v8.

I have also thought that turbocharging might be fun.

A proper Lexus conversion will leave you no change from R60k.
If it was my car, I'd go for a stroker 347 Ford V8

What would the cost of that 347 be?

Hi.

Awesome bakkies these, i have a 96 xr6 its not very quick but pulls like a ox.

Pricing would depend on what you have. I think rs performance or the v8 shop sell a 347 kit but you are still gona need a 302 motor to do the mod and you need to find a good engineering shop to help as i beleve there are clearance issues where the lower block needs to be ground to take the stroke. Im not sure if you need the block decked aswell?

Good luck to you on this.

Leon.

Hi Leon

I am leaning towards doing a 3uz conversion.

My brother just bought a 1975 Ford Falcon XB ute (1975 Ford Ranchero 500)

It has a Ford 351 Cleveland in it.

It's epic.

Though i think i would like a v8 that revs higher.
