BMW e30 320i project.

Post by paulusvrotius1 » Sun 18 Sep 2016, 13:51

Hi guys, I thought I would share my new project with you, not muscle but I know these are quite popular.
It's a 1987 320i two owner car with 72000 miles on the clock. Still has valid UK MOT for two months and papers in order.
The body is pretty good but paint is flat and interior is totally worn out.
I have been collecting bits for it over the last few weeks and will start sorting it out now.

Rare car in SA, this shape BMW has all but vanished, courtesy of "spinners", they get used for drifting and burnouts.

Yes Jacques, I've seen quite a few used for that on Youtube, real shame really.
They really take some abuse though.

Many have died horrible deaths too.

In fact its rare to see any E30 BMW in Cape Town at least.

People are too scared to drive them...gotta constantly look over your shoulder in fear of being hijacked for them..

Ja that sucks man. When I was over in March I specified a non target cheap hire car and got a Nissan Micra, what a horrible little car that was, next time I will take my chances and get something better.
Terrible you can't take you pride and joy for a spin without worrying, at least in the UK that is not a problem but the braai's are kak unless you do them yourself!

Dont ever even take a Toyota Etios. They are far worse and a danger on the road. Got one to use just to phone them to take it away and give me something else. Dont know who will pay good money for that crap car.

nice looking PB 2 door.

they are scarce here, even more so in that condition.

I own a E30 and I am consider selling it now due to these "spinners" giving us a bad rep. I get pulled over every single time I drive it. have been threatened twice with disc removal because it is too "low".

ENJOY IT

The brakes on the Micra locked up on me twice for no apparent reason while driving through Sandton and I mean tyres screetching, I was only going 40kmh slowing for robots. Was too scared to drive the crap so took it back with only 120km traveled in 5 days.
Just got my lowering kit, 60mm front, 40mm rear. I have fitted 17" Work Equip replica wheels. Will post pics later.
