Thanks Weasel. Not quite the one I wanted. Still look for that elusive '64 model and then again the '69. That said I might just be able to acquire two cabs and one load bin for the some total of R2500 close to me.

But the Dodge bug was too big to squash at the moment. Now although my wife is not aware of this, I want to try and collect all models of Dodge bakkies from 1960 onwards.

Getting a whole load of new parts from the US today or tomorrow, so I can start on the Dodge in earnest.

No man, Love these! Reminds me of the Little red express truck. Never got that here in SA but you have to love that.
I would so do a li'l red clone :)

The L'il Red Express is quite cool, but prefer the one without the double headlights.

Got my bits and bobs yesterday. Very happy, although the tailgate decal on the right was a laugh. I did not read the dimensions properly, was expecting a license plate number size only to receive it as a 10cm by 4 cm.

As you can see just some basic stuff door locks, ignition module, ignition switch, ballist resistor and all important badges. The rubbers are for the complete cab, and the taillights are my favourite. Just really nice.

And the manual will come in handy, best deal of the lot excluding shipping that only cost me R70.

So I thought, I would at least try and turn my truck into a reliabelish runner, before I start whipping body panels off.

So brakes and wheel bearings is the logical place to start, calipers came off, with a little Q10. Wonderful stuff and I can see I am going to use tons of it on this vehicle. Left disc/rotor came off no problem. You will note loads of caked on mud. I wonder how old that stuff is. Medieval underbody coating this is.

Right disc/rotor ummm not coming off...... Looks like I have a failed wheel bearing stuck around the shaft.... Q20 this time and some persuasion from the back looks like the method here, as I cant get anything in to pry the wheel bearing off.

Got a better visual on some of my rust issues on the, I think they call it the front valance,.... or in my words the piece of moulded sheet metal that takes the radiator and to which the grille and lights mount as well. So that everyone knows this piece of rust sheetmetal is going to be my first attempt at sheetmetal forming and welding so watch this space as I intend to replace the entire panel.

This is the pics of the left vs right.

Other things that have kept me busy and a bit quite on the Forum is another side project. Not a muscle car but a muscle bike. The hideous red thing is a 1982 Honda CB 900F. It is going to be styled along a café racer streetfighter look. These little side projects are funding my car projects. Below is before and midway through strip down shots, together with what it might look like at the end.

Well, while I was at work today, I asked my old man to try and get off that bearing. He now swears by the wonders of Q10.

The back bearing is what it should look like. The pieces scattered around was the original bearing.

So, all the callipers and discs/rotors are in for overhauling. Next question what colour to paint the calipers??

Q10 is a penetrating oil, said to cut through rust, grease and could even part your wife from your credit card

Q20 is a multipurpose lubricant.

To be honest, I have just always used Q20 in the past, and accidentally bought Q10. So used it anyway. It just seems to work that much better.

Wow... My last post was 2.5 months ago. That's what happens when you get sick for 6 weeks, negotiate your business through a downsizing exercise and complete the painting of the roof on your house, just in case you needed to raise some more capital.

Oh well, things are turning, for which I am very grateful to God and I have been able to do some stuff on the Dodge.

Now she was really running rough, so I thought I would replace the old ECU with the new one I got.

Old ECU out.....

New ECU in.........I am just amazed how easily this truck starts. As rough as she is, one pump of the foot on the gas a turn of the ignition and she thunders into life. Yes thunders is correct, because I have a gaping hole in the exhaust and have spotted a crack I think in the exhaust manifold just below the where the carb attaches. I was wondering why the carb linkage was black and sooty.

Then I removed the steering wheel with my homemade steering wheel puller, to fit a new ignition switch, cleaned out some of the old parts in there. Only to find the ignition switch I bought does was not the right one????

Anyway, new one ignition is inbound and old new ignition is now up for sale if a fellow South African would like it.

Also if any knows or has the small indicator for gear position for the autobox, which runs from the column up onto the steering I would appreciate it.
