1974 Ford F100 Restoration, where to get parts
Re: 1974 Ford F100 Restoration, where to get parts
Ok so as promised here's some more photo's. I'm no photographer so they're not great pics but you can get a good idea of the condition of the car.
It cost me a little more than I planned to spend at a total of 80K so I can't afford to start the restore just yet. It will probably remain much the same for the next year or so while I save for the spray job and some extra's.
More pictures to follow in the next post. You'll notice that it does already have electronic ignition and electric radiator fans wired to a switch in the cabin but I plan to upgrade to better equipment eventually.
Anyway, enjoy!

And some more!
So what do you think, was it worth R80K?

Dude, That one seriously cool truck, love the fact that it's standard on the outside (except the wheels ) . But i do adore/love/wanna get my hands on those wheels.
My suggestion if i may.... build a sleeper, so that you can surprise the sh$t out of wanabe robot racers...

Thanx for the pics, truck looks awesome. If the motor is running fine and everything else works I dont think U paid too much. Fixing the imperfections in the spray job will also not cost U that much.
To get my truck looking like that will most prob cost me the same if not more.

Thanks!
The previous owner said he orders his stuff from a place called State Side in ZA so I guess that's where he bought the rims.
He actually also owns two mint Fairlanes, a mint mustang and another Fastback mustang that he's busy rebuilding plus a Capri drag car also in the process of being built up. I think he is on this forum as well, his name is Ernu.
Anyway thanks for the compliments about my F100, I'm still deciding what I want to do with it but I probably will leave the body as is for the time being because I wont be able to afford body repairs for a while.
Oh and yes, it runs great, just need to replace the disks for the front brakes and put some kind of regulating valve in for the rear brakes that grab to easily.

Hi, welcome to the forum. You got one of the best F100 trucks I have seen. Ask Brandon at State side (021-9494115) to send you a catolog of your truck. I get one every year as I got two F100 trucks.
Rassie.

Wow, that's one of the nicest F100's.
Look after it and enjoy - You did not pay too much, don't worry.

Re: 1974 Ford F100 Restoration, where to get parts
Ok, so it has been quite a while since I last updated this thread.
Before I get into the work done, I would like to give a bit of a background.
I bought my F100 a year and half back as an entry into classics and muscle cars. My younger brother and I have been working on the truck in our spare time and I have been spending bits of spare cash, as and when available. We are both enthusiasts and we both drive the truck but I am the owner on paper.
My brother is 27 years old and I am 29. When it comes to the work on the truck, he is actually the one with the most technical skill and I am more of an assistant or helping hand but whenever we decide on bigger changes or modifications, it's usually a joint decision.
I work in IT and my brother works in fire systems and security. (Installing camera's, access control, alarms, and fire detection equipment etc.)
My brother studied auto electronics and worked at Volkswagen and diesel Electric so he learnt a lot of useful skills that have really helped a lot with the work that we have done so far.
So, with that in mind, lets get back to the F100. There was nothing major wrong with the truck when I bough it but it needed a new battery, some basic wiring, brake service and a touch of paint here and there.
Details in the next post.
