That axle also seems to be a bakkie one, the shocks would mount on the bracket clamping the leafs.
One can always get a bearing kit, and check the crown&pinion for wear, new oil and seals, 4x108 side shafts and all this you can probably get from Interspares.

Can always do a disc brake conversion?

I have also seen a few 1.6/2.0 Cortinas M68 diff run a stock V8 no issues.

My opinion:

Do a deep inspection on the current diff in the Capri and run it until you can find a M75 to suit
thanks for the info Marnus.

Yes, the axle is from a Ranchero.

I think I'll take your advise and use the M68 for now.

What ratio do I need ? would I be able to get the M68 to that ratio by changing the gears ?

Standard C4 Ratios are

1 2.46
2 1.46
3 1
Reverse 2.18

rear axle ratio of 2.92/3.08/3.36 should give you a nice ride without breaking the diff

With 225/50/15 and a 3.08 ratio at 4500rpm you should reach 165Km/h in final drive

1st 68 Km/h
2nd 108Km/h
3rd 165 Km/h

With 225/50/15 and a 2.92 ratio at 4500rpm you should reach 175Km/h in final drive
With 225/50/15 and a 3.36 ratio at 4500rpm you should reach 152Km/h in final drive

2.92 is most common on smaller converted V8, also better on the economy

Change the ratio by changing the Crown wheel and Pinion, they come as a kit

So I've been taking little parts home to work on during the week. I must say I really enjoy getting home listening to some tunes and working on restoring these parts. Way better than loafing in front of the tv.

I also think that all these little details will really make a big impact on the overall look once the car is reassembled.

here are some parts I did yesterday.

I've taken a week of extra leave in December and am planning to get some paint on my Capri during that time. So far everything is on track and should go as planned.

I checked the diff that is currently on the car and it has 10 teeth on the pinion and 37 on the ring so its 3.7:1 ratio.

So I would have to change the ratio on this diff.

Does anyone know what ratio the 3L Capri diffs have ?

I don't want to spend to much money on this diff when I'm going to replace it anyways.
