Hi this is F100

Post by F100-(351) » Wed 22 Aug 2007, 16:33

Hi this is F100 saying hallo.

It seems from the posts that I read that the people here are real car freaks & I like that.
Looking forward in reading everything you guys are talking about & showing here on this forum.

I have a 1600GT Capri being rebuild, but I dont know when it's evevr gonna be finished. I do however have a type of muscle car. It is a 197? Ford F100 pick-up with a 351 Cleveland motor, the bakkie has just a few mods to it & I will show some pics here as soon as I take some.

Cheers
Charles

Hey Roy

We should arrange as many SA Built muscle cars to join us on a breakfast run as well as car shows.

Firenza GT

F100, think about this, everyone actually, our heritage did not swing on everything V8. Sure they made a massive impression locally and yest they are our "boerewors" icons if you know what I mean. But today there are far less 1600 GT Capri's around that Perana's or Capri's with V8's in them. Firenza's same thing, there are probably more Firenza's with V8's in existance than ordinalr Firenza's. The 1600 GT capri here in ZA I would imagine is more rare than Capri Perana. The Firenza GT is just about extinct. These smaller classics at some stage should be punted more as they are the ones that filled the grids behing the big bangers. At least anything that has stripes, Rostyles and excessive instrumentation and stange colours !

Firenza GT now I like the way you think, that just makes me feel much better trying to keep the car as original as possible. Ill just change the wheels, uprate suspension & maybe do some tuning & sidedraugts, the rest I am trying to keep original. It has even got the standard branches on. I do not have exact spec on interior but I am gonna try & keep that as original as possible.

Good, sure I have Capri 1600 GT info somewhere I can scan for you to help with the resto. I do have a few normal workshop manuals and one Capri factory one that is more like a car "bible" that may have some usefull info as it concentrates on the smaller Capri's. I use it for everything else besides main mechanical.

Thanx Firenza GT, I now know who to turn to for some specs if needed. I will get to the the smaller details once my car gets out of the body shop (who knows when that will be). I will need a good look at what the interior looked like before I get it redone.

People tend to appreciate a classic more if it's as close to std as can be. Sure we uprate the engine & suspension but those are not noticeable changes and helps bring the car more up to date with technology.

I agree with the fact that it does not have to be a Big V8 powered car, anything rare and SA built should be together at shows.might be an idea to put forward for next years Cars in the park to have SA built specials together.

Couple more rare SA built cars

ALFA 3.0LT GTV6
BMW 333I
BMW530M bet everyone forgot this one.
CORTINA INTERCEPTOR
CORTINA XOCET
CORTINA XR6 TF
SIERRA XR6 TWIN TURBO,V6 VERY FEW MADE AND QUICKER THAN THE XR8
1984 Rover Vanden Plas V8 (Historic Race car)
1986 Rover 3500 Vitesse (UK Import Ex London Police Car)
1983 Rover Vanden Plas undergoing conversion to race car.
