Muscle Car Music

Post by ZA Perana » Sat 21 Nov 2009, 10:02

Me, well I usually prefer the sound from up front but will admit there are certain tunes that seem to suit the V8 culture, one artist in particular: Bruce Springsteen.

Listening to some of his songs one can just pictures oneself in some V8 heading accross North America...

If I had to choose these two would be my choice: Thunder Road and Born to Run...

What you guys think is music that best goes with muscle cars?

Another group that also made good "muscle car" music was Midnight Oil.

That's how I roll. Down the hill 'cause the car won't start and the brakes don't work.

Midnight Oil probably would have V8s banned if it were up to them, massive greenies! Singer Peter Garrett used to be a member of the Greens, and is now the Environment Minister in Australia's Labor Government (although the party machine has made him a little more conservative than he once was, and he's been approving mines etc!)

I was always amazed by the Oils, they were hardcore left ideologues - anti-mining, pro-environment, very pro-Aboriginal rights - but there fan base was a socio-economic demographic that was often conservative, young, low to middle class white males - including V8 guys - whose priorities generally would not fit the Oils lyrical ethos!

Im mostly into metal, but if it's fast and heavy, I'll drive to it. I once got done speeding to Ministry's Jesus Built My Hotrod!

Cheers

To me ZZ Top is the ultimate muscle car music, but Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots work just as well.
I usually have some Scandanavian Metal pumping loud though. v8 + metal = carnage.
