VALUE FULL SET OF CAR MAGAZINES

Post by johan wepener » Tue 26 Dec 2017, 18:11

I have sold our house.Too big for only me and wife. Have bought townhouse in security complex. I cannot accommodate my CAR magazines

in new premises.

I have a complete set of CAR magazines, from the very first edition in 1957 to this date.Every single edition is there, not one

missing. In immaculate condition. This first few hundred issues are housed in dark red CAR covers, similar to those supplied by

Butterworth Statutes of Law in South Africa and which every Law Library in our country are supplied with.

What do members think is a reasonable market value . I will advertise this very shortly.

Very difficult to determine, I have a nearly complete set and have asked myself this many times. Finding the early issues is incredibly tough today I have spent years hunting some early issues.

R10k?

As I say I am really not sure.
Alfa GTV 3.0
Ford Capri Perana V8
Chevy Lumina Supercharged

Wait not for tomorrow to do what can be done today, live each day for one knows not what the next day may hold.

I have started to subscribe to CAR since late 1970's. It took me ten to fifteen years to gather the older

editions.

ZA, I think your estimation of the value is roughly correct.

Thanks

It is a great collection, but it may be hard to find a buyer...hard to put a value...some issues wil be worth more than others...the older one are obviouly more worth then the newer ones...

10k seems reasonble...but maybe to find a buyer you have to look for about 5000 to 7500 range

Yes Barry ,I agree.

I have put the set up for sale at R8,000 negotiable.

It is the nostalgic value that is high. But that is not the reality re market value.
