Came with 4 speed Toploader. 9 inch LSD. Now has new Tremec T5.
Trying to think if I have seen this car, the boot lid is throwing me off because the one I remember seeing had the regular Capri boot lid.

Lambert has admitted it was their car. Just not a track/race version. Although I'm certain it's done track work at some point.

I have a lead on who may have built the motor. Will update later.

Hi Chris,

Was this an ex Transvaal car, if so it would have had the three different registrations and number plates, the first had the letters allocated to the town/municipality the car was first registered at, second was when they went electronic and it would have had three letters and three numbers with a T on the end for Transvaal, then finally after the ANC took over they changed again to various coloured plates with pictures and letters applying to the area.
If you need original looking bulkhead to front floor plates for your car I still make them to order.
Cheers

My AMC:
1971 Capri Perana Yellow/Blk.

What happens now is if the car was registered say 10 times you can only see the last three registrations.

The three great mysteries of life for me?

1. Who really shot JFK?

2. What really happened in Las Vegas?

3. Who built the engine in my 'Lambert' racing Perana?

1 and 2...who knows. 3 there are still a lot of good engine builders around in SA.

Was the engine built before Lambert took ownership of the Capri? Does he not want to put you in touch with the previous owner?

I believe your Capri was at the November 2013 Cape Classic Car show in Parow, I don't think there is many Capri's in SA with a ducktail spoiler.
I didn't capture the car at that event, where you there, ZAP?
Not my photos, but here is a link, seems to have been in the Lambert collection by that time already.

The car is in the UK now.

I know it was a Lambert car, they finally admitted that. It was a road car never raced, yet it was kiited out as a track car. Just wanted some spec on the engine. thanks
