Just back from NYC / LA. I tend to do quite a bit of driving on my LA visits and, as such, always rent "something special". This year I got my hands on the 2017 Camaro SS Fiftieth Anniversary Convertible. 6.2 liter, 8 speed auto. Picked it up at LAX at 1.00am after flying in from New York and was pleasantly surprised when the guy at the Hire Counter urged me to "use a bit of rubber on your way out". No second invitation needed and we laid down the first of many twin stripes as we left the lot. A tad too many buttons / aids / buttons / functions for my liking, but a hoot when you put your foot down.
Whilst in LA I stayed with a good friend, fellow petrolhead who has a beautifully renovated Airstream on a deck below his house which he rents out on Air BnB. A great break from staying in a normal hotel.
Now, here's the thing. My friend has offered me his 67 Impala at a great price. Beautiful, original, matching numbers in great nick and I am wrestling with the question of whether it would be possible to do a RHD conversion and bring this baby to SA. Any ideas / advice most welcomed. Pics attached show the rental Camaro, the Airstream and the Impala.
