It was mentioned that the forum is on the down because of the economy, how does that make sense? Its not like it costs money to talk about cars, talk is free.. Sure it may keep new people into the hobby from starting a project or buying a car but those of us that are passionate about it and are in it dont come here and comment or add content because we not motivated to do so. I personally participate in other forms in the USA because I have something to learn there and they have interesting content which keeps me coming back to those forums. Cant say I am getting that around here.
Sorry I think certain people need to swallow their pride and LISTEN to what Shannon is having to say, because the vibe I am reading is they dont want to be listening to his wise words. Embrace and learn from those that know more and are specialised in their fields.
OK you say the economy has nothing to do with it? How many younger people can afford Mustangs/Camaro's in any condition? Back in 2001 a Mustang could be had for R30k, a fastback for R50k and project cars for even less. If you track this site, its biggest growth was when cars were attainable, are they attainable now, definitely not in my view, aspirational perhaps.
Sure, people can talk about cars but how many younger people want to talk about cars they cannot relate to and cars they hardly ever see.
Hi, I have just got back from Cars the Park PMB, was a good day out, seems that on the ground down here in Durban the interest in classic cars, muscle cars, hot rods and the entire scene is strong and Durban is indeed the poorer city than JHB or Cape Town. Also lots of old timers and youngsters walking around. I am sure the majority of visitors to any Cars in the Park dont actually have a car on show, but may have a project or even worse not have a car in any state of repair at all. But they there even in this kak economy. After all we can all look and dream and if have a passion for something participate.
My point is same thing as a forum, you dont need to own a car to visit here, its free and a cheap source of entertainment..
I think its irrelevant ho many young people or old people for that matter who can afford a muscle car. Its only about this forum and why people are not coming here or contributing to it. That problem is with the admins, owners, layout, usability of the forum to be honest. But its hard to admit when you are part of the problem I suspect. Sorry if I am been harsh but I am seeing a lot of excuses around the problem but you guys are not admitting there is a problem with the forum are you ?
2ndly, those that do have cars and are busy restoring them (and perhaps in your mind the "ones with money" ) are also not really interested to come here and share their experiences, like they did in the past. Why is that ??? I would love to hear YOUR answer to this....???
