Hi there guys.
I came across an Opel Manta yesterday, which had electric windows. I have not known or seen any information on the internet to ever indicate that there were Manta models built with electric windows.
I spent the rest of the day looking on the net for information/pictures relating to electric windows on the Manta, but could not find anything.
Is anyone aware if there were electric window options on the Manta A series. What I saw yesterday, looked and seemed original to the car and period correct. It did not look like a aftermarket fitment.
Regards
Gareth

Re: Electric Windows?
To determine if the electric window installation is OEM, have look at the door panels.
If the panel material is the original covering and there is no provision for a window winder, then the chances are that it is original.
If, however, there is a plastic plug of about 4 cm, covering the stub where the winder handle has been removed, it is an aftermarket installation.
Also check the wiring running into the door. OEM equipment will have a dedicated rubber wire duct that fits perfectly into the supplied openings in the door jambs.
I have done a lot of electric window installations and there are switches available for the better products that match the originals from the manufacturer 100%.

Re: Electric Windows?
Thanks for the response.
The door panel looked original, and I did not see a plugged hole in the door where a window winder might have been.
Of all the times I don't take a photo, it had to be this occasion.
This one was not a black plastic switch. It was a round in shape, the material looks similar to the Manta door lock(silver), with black switch in the centre.
If it is original to the car, it is the first time I have ever seen one, never mind hearing of one.
Thank you,
Gareth
