Today, Christmas came early for us.
Saint Nick did not rock up in his red sleigh, but in a yellow VW Crafter.
(Yea DHL !!!)
The bag of toys were a bit too big to sling over a shoulder, so me and the elves carried it into the shop.
We have decided to change the image of the Mustang a bit.
The plan is to go for a slightly more elegant look than the wannabe Eleanore image it now has.
This is what my gifts looks like once in the shop.
Now for the opening of the presents.
I feel like the proverbial dog with two tails - one for wagging up and down and one for wagging side to side.
First to go is the bonnet. It will be replaced with a flat '68 bonnet from Dynacorn with a '67 hood scoop. Oh, yes, I also managed to source replacement gas struts for the billet hinges as well.
The interior with the embroidered leather upholstery will be redone with a complete black interior restoration kit that includes new seat foam and door panels and head liner.
The instrumentation will be replaced with a new black-faced digital '68 Mustang cluster from Dakota Digital with new wood grain instrument bezel.
I'll install power steering with a special billet power steering pump setup to match the existing alternator drive. Steering duties will be handled by a new Wood rim steering wheel.
For rolling stock, I have managed to get the wheels that I have lusted after for years. Year One's Magnum 500 17 inch staggered wheels
The car will be painted Ford Deep Impact Blue with a white C-Stripe kit.
To offset the dark colour, we have decided on some jewelry in the form of new stainless rain gutter trim, stainless wheel arch trim and new emblems all round.
So if any body is interested, we'll have the Eleanore bonnet for sale, in perfect condition as well as the 15" knockoffs with almost new BF Goodrich tyres.
I'll post these under a different heading at a later stage.
