2015 Mustang

Post by ZA Perana » Wed 22 Oct 2014, 07:49

What are the thoughts on this. Looking at the review so far it seems positive but the styling looks a bit "busy", though it seems the car does look good in some colours.

Wonder what the pricing in SA will be like.

I really want one badly but it must be a V8, read some really good reviews on road tests in the US by British testers

I like it but for me will depend on pricing and if we get the V8, the 4 cylinder doesn't interest me at all. Anything over R800k and I think the market is going to be very limited.

I think they look great - but I need to have a bakkie, so with the GTs in the garage there is absolutely no room for a mustang.

On facebook somebody said they expect around 850k, but nothing concrete yet.

R850k is too much in my opinion, there are a lot of nice cars in that price range and if Ford doesn't bolster its service levels then I feel in 5 years time one is in the same position that owners of Falcons are....i.e. very few parts available.

I think even at 850 there will be a queue for them, but if they can come in at 650 then they wont be able to keep up with demand for a long time.

All cockpit photos still LHD... I think the eco boost will be around R700 k and the V8 800 plus

Get the latest car mag issue. nice feature on the Mustang and a VERY nice e feature on the new ZL1 Camaro and the Dodge Hellcat,

I somehow don't think the prices on the Mustang will be over the top, just think about this, these cars are not private imports subjected to all the full price listings and dutes etc etc, or non franchise dealers with heavy markups .

These cars are proper Ford Motor Company global cars and will be distributed through the Ford Network so dealer discounts apply to the dealers when the cars arrive, not sure how the duties and customs tax is calculated for dealer imports so I am hoping that FORD SA do not go mad and overprice these cars as they are not that expensive in the USA.

Base prices for V6 is around $24,428, the Ecoboost Turbo base price is $25,995 and the V8 GT Base price is $32,995 , those are retail prices, dealers wont pay that. if they come in at a competitive prices from say R600k to R800k there will definitely be a rush from people that can afford that bracket as it is in the area price range of a lot of upmarket cars,
the M4 BMW now is way over a Million and a Merc C63 Coupe as well but that should not be Fords Market if you look at their Global car market. We can only hope :D anyway they will still be cheaper than any of the previous generation Mustangs that were all pvt imports.

One thing I note is that the turbo 4cyl and the V8 six speed box has a 1-1 5th gear ratio and the sixth gear is an overdrive, nice. fuel consumption figures in the US road tests are not too bad

It will be great to finally have a V8 powered Ford back in SA again
