Ford Capri Perana?

Hi there guys

I'm looking at buying a small muscle car in SA and have always fancied a Chevy Can am or Capri Perana.

Unfortunately as we all know, both are scarce as hens' teeth!

There was a '72 Can am for sale on Gumtree a while ago which I was busy dealing with. It was immaculately build-up from scratch but was massively modified and it's was also not a 100% clear whether it was a true Can am......it has however been sold for a full R160k to a gentleman in Cape Town - not a bad price for a possible clone.

Meanwhile, there's a pretty nice Capri Perana for sale on Gumtree - we're still waiting to meet up for viewing as my father will have to check it since I'm not currently in SA.........

The asking price of R260k seems to be a bit on the steep side as there was another Capri similar for sale on Junk mail for R130 grand?? Then there's a another on OLX which the guy wants a whopping R300k for!!

What would be a decent price to pay for such a car in good nick?

The Perana on OLX was sold a while ago.The one on Gumtree for R260k is a mismatch.The BG plate in engine bay is BG 3--something and the engine fitted is BG 6-- something,meaning it has a Granada Perana motor fitted.No underseat tag also.The outside doesn't look to bad ,but the interior sucks.........

Thanks for pointing out that little detail regarding the VIN etc. I'm assuming that you asked the owner to send you the numbers as they don't appear on the ad?

Wrt the interior - from what I can see in the pic's, it doesn't look too bad............then again, it should be spotless and original for that kind of price.

photos can be deceiving..... depending on quality of camera.... need to inspect and know what to look for....
