'67 Ford Cortina PERANA

Post by V8 fan » Wed 30 Nov 2016, 20:35

Would this be an original Perana Cortina..........I'm at work in Trinidad and Tobago so cannot really enquire :(

The 5-speed tranny is obviously wrong.

Theuns de Lange would be the guy I would ask, he knows them quite well. Is he a member here? He had (or maybe still has) that beautifull red Perana featured on the Perana.org site.

This car looks to have the right parts and badges, some missing and has seen some updating here and there. It might be, but might also be a re-shell type of deal.

In my opinion the numbering seems to be off. Unless I am reading incorrectly, I read the number as 205.

You have good eyes, I could not even see a number, let alone read it!

I cannot comment on their numbers anyway, I understand too little of the numbering convention BG used back then. Just comparing these pics with the ones I have of TdL's genuine and original car, much of it appears to be correct, plates in the right places, badges, dash, steering and so on.

The colors used on the engine, well that is a crime all on its own.

Must admit it does look like a very nice car. Perhaps being under sold slightly.

Car has been sold to a collector who is familiar with the history and the previous owner.

Cortina was originally a 1600GT but converted to a BG V6 in 1970 at a cost of R1000.

Just to confirm, was the conversion by BG, or was just an engine bought from him?
