Indeed. While at varsity,a friend's dad had one, in that baby blue colour. Best sounding six I have ever heard. Went like the clappers as well.

Not sure, but I think the "GT" was a limited production model for the Skyline, would be nice to know how they differentiated from other 2.8 Skyline's?

Hi Ben

One of the differences between the 4-door and the coupe is that the GTX (coupe) was fuel injected.

Hi Gert, just to clarify, I was specifically asking about the "GT" model, which was only available in a 4-door, there were other 2.8L 4-door model designations as well, for instance, GLX, SGL, and the fuel-injected SGLi.
I have since found, the Skyline range was introduced around Oct 1982 as the Datsun Skyline, with the only 2.8 in the range, being the GTX hardtop coupe. Around Oct 1983, the nameplate change from Datsun to Nissan occurred, along with that took place, the discontinuation of the Stanza range, introduction of the Langley range and the first 2.8 4-door Skyline, the "GLX", with induction by 2-barrel Hitachi carb. The "GT" was released around May 1984, in limited numbers with a Weber carb, and a performance gain of 10%, it featured the suspension of the GTX coupe(not sure how it differs from the GLX suspension, perhaps it was stiffer?), but not the rear disc brakes and "GL" 4-door body, sort of a no-frills and sporty Sierra XR6 competitor, thus no central locking, wind-up windows and manual mirrors, while the "GLX" was more luxurious. Around Oct 1985 the range was slightly updated, the "GT" model was dropped, a manual 2.8 SGL model replaced the GLX. The automatic and fuel-injected 2.8 SGLi, as well as an automatic GTX coupe model was added to the range. It continued like that, until around June 1987, when the newer R31 Skyline range was introduced.
