More Eleanor's

Post by IndianaJones » Sun 20 Sep 2015, 19:29

Saw this on Gumtree...

1967 Ford Mustang fastback super snake eleanor
http://www.gumtree.co.za/a-cars-bakkies ... 0006503709
R 1 600 000

1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 ELEANOR SHELBY SIGNATURE CAR
http://www.gumtree.co.za/a-cars-bakkies ... 0022107109
No price given, but value stated as R 1,980 000.00

Certainly some very nice parts built into these machines, but are these real Shelby's?
Like Mav says, some very nice exotic German machinery available at these prices, even Italian.

Buy 1 x 69 Mustang in the US @ $21k
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/5201222112.html

Buy 1 x body kit at $4200
http://www.mustangdepot.com/OnLineCatal ... /e-kit.htm

Shipping another $2.5k or less.

@ R13.50/US$1 = R373.950

land here, declare as pre 1965, pay duties and VAT lets say another R300k to make it happen.

Total so far R673,950.

Fit kit, respray car, nice set of wheels - R100k
get a nice Shelby signature kak thing, dress up the engine etc....another R20k worst case scenario.

Grand total R795k.

Sell to idiots at R1.5m = R700k profit.

Theres money to be made off idiots.

Get your point, Mav. Perhaps a bit off topic, but out of my own interest, can you declare a 1967 model as "pre 1965"?
Anyone that have inside knowledge on this area, feel free to PM me.

There are so many alternatives at that price, it's not even funny.

I would get something like this in a heart beat.

Hey Maverick, dream on.... in the real world Eleanors are based on fastbacks not the coupe you refer to. A decent fastback will cost $35 -40 k - that's R560 k before you start. Also in the real world shipping includes transport to a harbour which may be thousands of miles away and cost many thousands of dollars alone - plus packing and shipping here and clearing etc costs up to R80k - plus then you have duty at 30 % plus VAT - so you end up with a landed cost close to 1 bar and you haven't bought the Eleanor kit or converted to right hand drive yet nor painted it etc. Oh and yes you can forge false papers to claim its a pre -65 and all that but at the end of the day it is like a stolen vehicle - cool to drive until the day you are caught and go to jail. It will always be illegal - its whole life - the car I mean -so when you want to sell your forged vehicle - then what? Do you tell the buyer he must become your accomplice in the fraud? All it takes is an enquiry to Ford or any of the vin websites re the vin and it is all over or do you gypo the vin as well? The hole gets deeper and deeper.....

Hi Buckaroo---------I agree, nobody wants to be sent to Pollsmoor for

some time .Irrespective of the fact that all accommodation and food

will be for free.

As a matter of interest--what does Buckaroo means---has it something to do with the karoo :D

Regards
