Help With Engine Number

Hi All
I have recently purchased an AC Cobra Venom RT, it has a Chevy 400 cu in motor.

I am having difficulty in identifying the motor as all the paperwork as well as a engine no plate indicates it's number is CHE1654.

None of the Chevy engine number sites I have been to recognize this number, any help will be appreciated?

Look at the rear of the block behind the distributor there's a casting number ...
