Jag XJ 6 steering rack upgrade

Hi guys, I want to upgrade/change my Jag XJ6 series II suspension's steering mechanism to something more responsive(current steering requires too much turn input for steering result).
Has anyone got any successful solution as to which steering rack would make an improovement?

The XJR rack has a faster ratio, but this unit only interchanges with mid 90s XJ6. I don't know if this is the same layout as the older XJ6.
Also, there are short and long tower XJ6 racks. I need to inquire how they differ inside.

Did you consider changing the length of the steering arms?

Seems the 8-tooth short tower has a faster ration (vs the 7-tooth long tower).

One big advantage is the faster ratio with the 8 tooth pinion:

Thanks Dom, I did find similar info about the short tower with an 8 tooth input shaft - finding and acquiring one may be an issue in SA.
Apparently the XJS or XJRS models from 1984 onwards will fit, doing some more homework/research.

I ask Dave for a short tower version. I assume you have a RHD?
