Chevrolet Rekord 2.3 Gearbox

Good day All

I have a 2.3 Rekord with Auto box.

It is starting to not select drive in the mornings - takes a while to engage in the forward gear. Also it feels as if the box is slipping due to revs picking up and not actual speed.

I am considering swapping it out for a manual gearbox.

Can anyone give me some advise on which other gearbox will fit, besides the Firenza 2.5 and Nomad 2.5 manual gearboxes?

I know the later model opel rekord had a different bell-housing pattern.

65/66 Opel Rekord, Chevair 2.3, Ranger Opel Rekord "B", "C" and "D".

Renier just shop around and stay with the auto. They are around at good prices. Also try Chevy world. Many members got the phone number.
Also easy to recon. them.

Just for info! The Rekord "B" was fitted with a "Powerglide two speed box. That box was indestructible!!! There are some lying around!

Have you checked the ATF level. Your symptoms can suggest that the fluid level is low.

Hi Kavesh

Checked the fluid, all seems to be 100.

Drained the ATF and put in some new ATF.

Only happens in the mornings when cold.

Does anybody perhaps have a manual on these gearboxes for servicing?

Or maybe direct me to a website having some info on these boxes? maybe a model number?
