Juan's T Bucket - HEI dizzy install...
Hi all rodders,
Trust all is well?!
Trying not to sound tooooo dumb... I am not able to install my new HEI dizzy on my Ford 302w...
Things that I noticed...the dizzy's shaft don't slide in all the way...there is no "key" on the bottom where the oil pump driveshaft needs to go in... Maybe its a Chevy's dizzy they gave me???

I just spotted your thread....nice new items for you Ford!
I'm not too sure what you mean with the key not being there, but I just wanted to check - the spiral gear at the bottom of the new set-up should look similar to the old one.
Other than that, did you try turning the dizzy approx. 90deg for the spiral gear to align with the connecting rod which serves as drive gear for rotor shaft before sliding it down into port?

Is that a Mallory or Msd ? Give me the part number on the box I can't tell from the picture what it is

hi sir, I have went through some photos of differences between ford and chevy, and the vacuum advance are pointing clokwise...it is a TSP HEI from The v8 Shoppe...part number on invoice is 3101 and on the box is 3100...I am almost sure it is a Chevs dizzy. as the shaft is way to long

hi v8 fan as soon as I get home I will send you some pictures of the gear, there are no way for the oil pump driveshaft to fit under the gear...lol excuse my english lol

Well if the shaft doesn't fit it's gotta go back , must be a mistake I'm sure they will rectify it .....

So it looks like you might have a Chevy's dizzy then............from the photo, it does look a lot like my MSD system I've got fitted to the Can-Am...........
I will also be looking at changing my existing MSD to a normal Bosch system with the module on the side of the distributor - it seems to be more reliable than the MSD. Mine is also quite old now and as I've got to replace my leads, I think it's time to replace the old dizzy too.
Hope you get it sorted soon - here are some pic's of a Bosch system with the module on the side (fitted to a 350 Chev).

thank you v8 Fan, I just love your car!!!! where are you from? this is my first project so there is still ALOT to learn !!! and its on my budget so I am taking a while lol. I sae a module for the 302w that you use the origenal dizzy and just replace it with magnetic pickup and and and...easy job I think it was from Pretronix I will confirm that but is available for chevy also.

Thanks for the compliment - the Chevy Can-Am is an awesome car!!
I'm from the City of Roses(Bloem), but now live down in the Cape province and Germany - my missus being German.
The pic's I posted was from a mate down in Oz which has this setup on his boat engine (350cu) - he says it works like a charm. Electronic ignition bosch internals, simple all you need is 12 volts to to coil. He told me the cost would be approx. 300 Aussie dollars for a Bosch system like this with the dizzy, cap and coil(no leads).
