Hi and help please

Post by wit1111 » Thu 26 Sep 2013, 06:36

Hi all,

Very glad to have come across this fantastic forum.

I am an SA expat currently living in Hong Kong who has a great love of American Muscle, despite not having anywhere near enough time/space/cash to know as much as I would like. I'm hoping to change that though.

I've grown up around a 71’,65’,69’ Mustang, a 53’ T-bird and a 60’ Corvette. Sadly over the years they have been sold as their owner, a great mentor and friend passed away two years ago and the family decided to move them on to good homes. Only the T-bird and the 69 Mustang remain.

I am hoping to come back to SA during the course of next year and have decided that I want to take the plunge and start looking seriously at buying, in particular a Mustang, anywhere in the 60's but no coupe's. I'd be very grateful if any of you veterans could steer me in the direction of the best guys to speak to regarding sourcing one and who the best to work on anything that may need some refurb. I will in all likeliness be based in Joburg.

Looking forward to hearing from you, and hopefully contributing in some way.

Hi,

Thanks very much. With respect to the budget it is a bit of a tough one as it depends on a number of factors.

But, as a stab in the dark. I would very much like to come in under ZAR 400k. I am not particularly phased about taking on something that needs to have some money spent on it provided I can obviously find someone worthy of working on it and the work is not rust related.

Appreciate any suggestions.
