Exactly - you could buy a new VW Kombi for that! Instead of some old thing............

An original numbers matching 68 350 SS Camaro goes for $50k+ in the USA. I sold my 67 SS/RS for a paltry R70k (it was bastardised by the prvious owner , but had a matching engine and box) about 6 or 7 yrs ago - sorry I did.

That Camaro does seem very highly priced, considering there are a lot of non orignal parts on it and what I like least is that bonnet....why people do that to bonnets really is beyond me, totally ruins the look of the car.
Having said that though if this is the Camaro I think it is, its one very well sorted car from a handling perspective.

Oddly enough seriously "restified" muscle commands a lot more money than an original sometimes.

Which is a shame but I predict in 10 years all this "restified" muscle will be worth very little as people move back to more original looking cars....then someone is going to make a ton of money "correcting" the detail on these cars.

Im not so sure - the restified stuff is much more appealing to drive than the originals , most 60 and early 70's muscle are not really fast , handle like a cow on ice and brake even worse - not a joy to drive. A lot of what is "restified" is actually not at all rare stuff and just made over to look like rare - with aftermarket body panels , completely different chassis and suspension - modern F-Inj motors etc - basically they got the looks and something in the broeks.

Funny about Jaguars: a very popular swap here is to drop a 350 SBC and either a TH350 or 700R4 into a 1968-87 XJ6: apparently, they are indeed
more valuable than the same car with the original XK Six.
