Chevy Custom 10 pickup.

Post by goddard » Wed 13 Jan 2016, 15:57

I stumbled across this recently, spoke to the owner and can get it for a ggod price... believe its standing for a year or 2 (max) apparently the motor is ok (4100) and from what I can see, just the radiator has been removed. The cover on the diff is also off (but seems like the diff internals are there, took some pics, cannot see a makers plate in the engine bay. I believe the gearbox is faulty, they struggled to get gears? (4spd manual) What should I check out for before I buy it? Where are the makers plates situated? Will I find parts easy enough? Ideally, I would like to bring it back to its former glory...

From what was said, the vehicle is from Griekwa stad, the registered owner is dead? And there is no papers...
What procedure should I follow... don't want to get burned?

Hey Bud, first things first you need to make sure you can get the vehicle liscened even before you buy it. Since the owner has passed i suggest you try find the Tags of the Truck, check it with Plolice Clearance and then find out with the lisence department if the vehicle can be registered. I think that would be your first step but thats just my 2c.
