I bet you Mopar freaks haven't seen one of these dodges I went to have a look at the other day.
It's a 318 61 dodge pheonix which is rare for this country.
Cheers

Re: 1961 Dodge Pheonix
I really like the 50 and 60's Chrysler's, there was something very individual about their styling.

Nice car, a first for me. Must have the same Poly motor as my Chrysler.

The Dodge Phoenix reminds me a lot of the Plymouth Fury of that time. This is time when they started clipping the wings off the cars.

Re: 1961 Dodge Pheonix
At that stage Dodge Plymouth and Chrysler did not share much commonality in spares - only from 64 -65 did they all start using the same engines designs - the 318 poly was a Plymouth and Dodge engine, Chrysler had a 354 Poly, which could be changed into a full hemi by changing the cylinder heads and push rods was the firepower hemi, Dodges version was the Red Ram - but there where differences - as some red rams was poly type designs, and some hemi's.
From the 361 - 400 B and 413 - 426 RB and Hemi did they start to standardize same goes for the 273 LA introduced in 64/5( LA indicate Light A as it is thinwall casting derivative of the A or Plymouth Poly 318)and would you believe the old Poly318 is the direct Grandfather of the V10 used in the viper - even has the same bell housing pattern.
Last Note - Poly weight ~25 kg more than an LA 318 BUT has more power potential . They poly shares, cranks, conrods pistons timing gear - i think cams - dizzy, fuel and oil, and water pumps(if you use a later timing case) ,starter. lifters and all the transmissions that bolts to an LA/Magnum will work behind a Polly
I know this was a bit off topic.. just a little bit

Re: 1961 Dodge Pheonix
Does anybody know if the pheonix was assembled here or just in Australia and imported here?
I think they might be related to the same era desoto diplomats built here, or am I completely barking up the wrong tree.
