Yip the Escort Mk2 Sport with Turbo as per Lynton's car, was a Brospeed system fitted by Alpine.

Hi All Motorheads!!
Late 1996 early 1997, Nissan Sentra had the 160STi. This had a different 1600 engine to the other 1600 Sentra's at the time. I had the privilege of owning one back from 2001 to 2007. That little 1600 would run away from the then Corrolla 20V RSi/RXi, oh and the peeps that had Golf Gti's...left them in the dust. I even took on a Honda Civic Vtec one day without knowing it, and left him in the dust too.
Not sure how many of these 160 STi's were sold here in South Africa, and not too sure what they were called overseas. This was the model just before Sentra had that horrible face lift where the whole front was basically bumper and grill in one piece. Never liked the face lifted model, always preferred the older front with the "honeycomb" grill.
Still wish I had that car, was an awesome car and never gave a days kak, even with over 300 000km on the clock!
Another car, also don't know the numbers, I am sure not a lot were made which had a lot of oomph, was the Honda Ballade DOHC from late 80's to early 90's. This one had that little bump on the bonnet.
Is there a website where one can find out how many of these cars were produced/sold?

Another Ford related question,
I know the Sierra and sapphire IRS were limited cars ie 150 in total,
Buy what about the production numbers on the Injected 2.0 L sapphires?
ie these were initially 2.0i GLe ( wide beading model) and then 2.0 Gli ( narrow beading)
Can any one help?

Don't forget the E34 BMW 540 i Individual - a 6 speed manual with a full M-Sport body-kit, full house leather interior with M-Sport colours in the leather and special M5 forged wheels. Only 200 built over 2 years and unique to SA.

Our Nissan Sentra/Sabre were called a Nissan Pulsar overseas, and the Sentra 160 STI, and Sabre 160 GXI, did not a have a different engine from the regular 1600's, it was just fuel-injected GA16, were as the other were carb-fed GA16. It did have a short production run, before the facelift models were introduced, and I think it can be regarded more as a run-out model.dw1980 wrote: Late 1996 early 1997, Nissan Sentra had the 160STi.
But with only 79kW on tap, and everything else equal, I have a hard time believing it will out run 103kW 200STi competitors, the 115kW RSi/RXi or 118kW Civic V-Tec.

In South Africa, the 160STi, which then the facelifted 160 GXi, had the GA1600DE engine, different from the 1600 carb fed motors. (I remember comparing the engines at the time I had the car). Unbelievably, my STi did out perform the above mentioned cars (don't know how??). The GXi was mass produced, but the 160STi was limited. Funny enough the GXi could not keep up with my STi, so I don't know if Nissan SA did some mods to the STi. It also had a cut off limiter installed, so at around 5200 rpm in 5th gear, the car would literally cut out, at a speed of 220km/hr.
Please forgive me here, I am just talking from personal experience. Yes, my car was fitted with aftermarket branches and free-flow exhaust, but it should't really make that of a difference.
Still an awesome, good looking car, and when I look at the new Sentra rcently launched, I am like, Nissan, what went wrong!

The Sentra does tend to have the Sabre on top end runs, as it is more aerodynamic than the hatchback.
