Basie,

There are lots and lots of Cologne arched cars in Europe. The arch kits are easy to get.

Very few get the look completely right. Most sit too high and have wheels that are too skinny.

Geez, but still very nice looking cars. Is there a big difference in horsepower between the Cologne engine and the Essex engine. Very few cars came in RSA with the Cologne engine. Apparently the latter is a revver and the Essex produce the power..true???

Cologne vs Essex.... I think the fact that Cologne motors were used in production for far longer than Essex motors in Europe tells us something.

I am no expert, but it seems like that it is a bit easier (read cheaper) to make power out of a Cologne V6.

Over here (UK) a common route to V6 power is to buy an old unloved Granada or Scorpio Cosworth for about £200. Take out the very nice BOA or BOB 24V Cosworth Cologne V6, throw the car away. Just hope you don't have to overhaul the motor - parts cost a fortune. But at £200 just go buy another.

KR, you're the man ! :D I've been collecting stickers for the past 42 years! I still have mine from 1968 right up today! Have you got anything left over ??? Please reply asap!! I intend having an exhibition(like in paintings)of my thousands of stickers. I also used to swap out with an Irish friend which is the unofficial "world champ in Sticker collecting",but have lost contact! My 1968 Escort 1300 GT has a genuine 1968 STP sticker on its back... I once laid out some of my stickers and covered a double garage floor with half a box still unpacked !

Same here, we were two buddies in Primary school day's on was to the bus terminus in Town we'd walk different routes past different garage's and service centre's. And so we'd collect and swop duplicates with other pals, or sometime's a special sticker could be worth a few :lol: :lol:

We used to live in Surrey Street Goodwood before moving to Monte Vista. It was common practice to stroll up to Voortrekker road on a Fri. afternoon to hit all spares shops, garages, workshops, car showrooms etc. in the search of stickers! We would start roughly where Novel Ford is today in Goodwood right up to Bellville Ford where ex-WP champ Dirkie Kotze, was salesman for Bellville Ford.Then we'll head back the same way on the opposite side of Voortrekker Rd. The Total Service Centre, Louw & Kielblock Motors,was a favourite spot for collecting Galoob stickers - an egg shaped character linked to Total SA.

Mr CF, sadly those thousands of stickers (a school suitcase FULL) have long since disappeared, together with the irreplaceable racing scrapbooks, models (even some metal ones), train sets, steam engine, mechano (!) and corgie and dinkie toys to die for.

One only gets wise the older one gets......

Aw,what a shame ! Don't worry, I went through the same, looking especially for my die cast cars at my folks' home in Monte Vista....like it never existed !

I still have my die-cast Matchbox cars - including a Capri 'Perana' that I made. Pressed a bulge in the flat bonnet and put in a GT40 engine!
