So he had a few, did he? You must have raced against Ernest Stier. I know Ernest's father very well.

In fact those pics I posted of the slot cars, his father, Rory ran the slotcar track at Kenilworth after the original owner, Jon Lederle went up to Plett. That's where we used to meet before it closed down and now it's at Cambridge in Maitland.

For interest sake, Jon Lederle is the nephew of the former SA F1 champion, Neville lederle, as I posted somewhere else.

You're right Wing.

Gunter "retired" from karting long before Ernest Steer started.

But we all know Rory Steer.

Good guy.

Does anyone remember or have heard of Cherry Crisp in her Dart? I am intrigued to know more about how well she raced. Perhaps any older guys?

HenryK is 100% correct...mid 80's when i raced, don't even think Ernst Stier was born!!!! those days i was young and handsome, now i am just handsomne!
HenryK was very much part of my karting career especially when his son,Chilton, got involved who was an extremely good karter(Henry, didn't your son win the SA 60cc kart championship?)....those where the days when my dad would make the biggest fire party and braai after the races....
RACECAR spelt backwards spells RACECAR.....

I vaguely remember Cherry Crisp before I went overseas. She was very much a back marker but was consistent.

The name doesn't ring a bell. A woman in a Dart even less. How did you get her name? Was this in the 60's?

Remember when Mini's were so dominant at Killarney? Bob Alsop, Tommy Gash, Rod Turner, Rodney Goldberg, Brian Ferreria, Robin Bordin, John Amm (I think). That was a great era and they were all quick. I won't forget either Turner or Gash coming down the section between Quarry and Damps on his roof after being tipped by one of his other Mini "mates"!

Anyone remember those Peugeot 204's, Austin A40's and Triumph TR2's from the late 50's. What about the famous specials at Grand Central?
