Chevrolet 4100
Any thoughts on customising a chev 4100 into a muscle car. Is it a good idea ?
Re: Chevrolet 4100
I am on the same route slowly! There is also a triple carb version see photos Here is a 3.8 musclecar that will give many v8's a go. There is also a web site "Inliners" that can assist you. The name of this webite is African Muscle Cars and why not South African inline 6'ers?

Re: Chevrolet 4100
The 2500/3800/4100 (Rekord/Commodore in Europe) is a really nice elegant car. The 4100 is good fun. Remember the shell was designed to be powered along by a little four cylinder. That 4100 motor is a tough old thing with plenty of torque.
Of course it would be fun to do something different like triple side draught Webers.... and the rest.

Ben Morgenrood raced one in the late seventies. I think it was his first roadrace car. Cheers!
Re: Chevrolet 4100
Quite right, if my memory serves it was yellow and had a swept up section at the back. I saw the car at a Kyalami race mid 1980 about.nick sheward wrote:Ben Morgenrood raced one in the late seventies. I think it was his first roadrace car. Cheers!
His (Ben Morgenrood's) first circuit race car as far as I know was the ex-Bob Thomas Chev Firenza coupe which was the car that won the 1973 saloon car championship. The 2500 Chev swiped the championship from the mighty 5 litre Firenza's !
The coupe was rolled in a Kyalami Wynns 1000 race or could have been a 9 hour round about 1977 I think. After which came the 4100 then the rotaries.

Completely another tack - never have a head-on in a 3800/4100 Chev..
Design fault (?) pushes the water pump shaft through the number 1 cylinder wall, to add to your grief.
